If you havenât heard it already, you heard it here - Calgary has been named the cultural capital of Canada by the Federal government for 2012. So, that means the good people involved in our municipal, provincial and Federal governments have teamed up to bring you, the people of Calgary and beyond, a number of jaw dropping events/happenings/spectacles all year.  Once we heard the news we knew this was a perfect opportunity to get involved with the Calgary art community. The Calgary 2012 board put together an amazing group of talented individuals tasked with brining you the very best during this year long celebration, and we were honoured to jump on board as a multimedia partner.
After a few long months of planning the opening ceremonies finally arrived. On May 11th 2012, at the BMO Centre in Hall D, on the Stampede grounds, we packed as much multimedia as we could into one show- 50,000 watts of PK sound, 3 giant LED walls with custom content, live photography, enough lighting to light up a small village, and an unbelievable line up of Calgary based artists. From start to finish, from stage 1 to 4, from drag queens to the Stampeders, this was truly an awesome show. We canât wait to see what the board, curator, director, and producer have in store for us next. A truly unique and inspiring event for Calgary. If youâre an artist in Calgary and youâre looking to get involved, go to calgary2012.com and click on the âGet Involvedâ link. We want to see all artists, from all genres, from all walks of life included in the years celebrations.
